A FEW TIPS FOR VISITING TEMPLES

Take a handkerchief
You might see a water place by the entrance to cleanse your hands and mouth.
There are ladles at your disposition but no towels.

Avoid wearing long boots
in some temples you will have to take your shoes off at the entrance.
Sometimes you are supposed to carry your shoes with you while visiting inside as in Eikando temple.
And they supply plastic bags which are never big enough to put long boots.

Wear clean socks
Even in summer, taking a pair of clean socks without a hole is recommended.
It is not only to save you from embarrassment, but also to show respect to the temple.
